I can understand that there is a belief that he was not the best <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">shortstop</span> of his era. I could argue that his numbers are equal or better than Cal Ripken and Ozzie Smith, but I wont. But one thing is for sure, he <strong><em>is</em></strong> one of the best of all time after nearly 20 years playing a single position in Detroit. A World Series MVP, Gold Glove winner, World Series winner, double-play record holder, and many more accomplishments garnish his career. For 18 seasons, noone ever questioned who was going to be in the starting line-up in the SS spot. He the <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2">epitome</span> of playing the game the right way. He is as huge in Detroit as Al Kaline. He is bigger than Isiah Thomas, and far more poular than Joe Dumars ever was. He is Barry Sanders in a Tiger uniform. Put that into perspective. His If ANYONE belongs in the hall of fame, Alan Trammell is he. It is just a shame that this man was overshadowed by two other deserving Hall of Famers his entire career.<br /><br />Jack Morris is another example. He led his teams to World Series wins in THREE cities (Oh... that hurt by the way). He has a ring from Detroit, Minnesota, and Toronto. He was a co-pioneer of the split finger fast ball. He threw many one-hitters and a no-hitter. He has comparable numbers in nearly every category that matters. So... if you are, sit back and enjoy, if you're not... I may have a skewed perspective that <strong>will drive you nuts</strong> at times. I have an opinion that can be wrong in the big picture, but around the area, it makes sense.
